About the Journal

Focus and Scope:

Journal of Experimental and Molecular Biology (J. Exp. Molec. Biol.) publishes articles, short communications, and reviews in all areas of Biology under three major subjects:

  • Cellular and Molecular Biosciences: focusing on both laboratory-based and in-silico experiments aiming at understanding the molecular basis and mechanisms of life. This subject includes but is not limited to studies in Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Animal Physiology, Biophysics, Immunology, and Bioinformatics;
  • Animal Biology: focusing on all aspects of Zoology and Anthropology, including but not limited to Taxonomy (except new scientific names and nomenclatural acts), Biodiversity, Ecology, Ethology, Anatomy, Morphology, Histology, Nutrition, Pest control, and Archaeozoology;
  • Plant Biology: focusing on various domains of botanical sciences, such as Cytology, Morpho-Anatomy, Histology, Palynology, Physiology, Developmental Biology, Taxonomy, Phytosociology, Floristic studies, Phycology, Mycology, Phytopathology, Ecology, Environmental protection, and Paleobotany.

Short history

Journal of Experimental and Molecular Biology has its origins in Annales Scientifiques de l’Université de Jassy published at the Mihaileana University in 1901. In 1955 the journal changed its name to The Annals of „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi (New series) Section II (Natural Sciences) to better reflect the changes in the name of the university and the trends in science, and in 2003 branches into three independent sections. In 2018 the Editorial Team of one of the Section IIA Genetics and Molecular Biology decides to change the name of the journal to the current one: Journal of Experimental and Molecular Biology. In 2023, the Journal of Experimental and Molecular Biology broadened its area of interest by including the other two biological sections of the Scientific Annals of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza University” of Iași: section I Animal Biology and section II Vegetal Biology.

From the beginning, the journal was developed as an international forum for enhancing scientific communication between many personalities, as well as for encouraging young researchers to publish their scientific results.
